The API is a numeric index that indicates a school’s performance level. 1000 is the highest possible score; 800 is the minimum acceptable score. The API reports include a statewide rank and a similar schools rank. The statewide rank shows where a school ranks academically compared with other schools statewide. The similar schools rank compares your neighborhood school with 100 other schools that have similar demographic characteristics. Both rankings are on a scale of one to ten with ten being the highest rank achievable.
