Core Activities for Parents

Leadership Development

PQE will encourage and train parents to take a leadership role in their child’s education. We will provide training seminars that will guide parents in working with elected representatives, from the local Board of Education to the legislative process.

Information System

PQE will gather and communicate relevant education research and public school information to decision makers who need the facts to make effective decisions (parents, classroom teachers and other educators, community members, business leaders and elected officials). This includes information on K-12 successes (“proven practice”), academic standards, curriculum, assessment, accountability, and the use of technology to achieve student success.

Networking

PQE will create a network of people and organizations who work together to achieve the goal of every child receiving a quality education. The Travel Team meets with the rules committees in the State Legislature and the State Board of Education to learn how they operate and how to work with them. They will also speak on behalf of parents on issues that come before the state board that are of importance to a kid’s first agenda. A consistent presence is vital. Parents will also visit service organizations such as Rotary, Kiwanis, Boys and Girls Clubs, Chamber of Commerce, church groups, etc. to ask for help and commitments to help improve their neighborhood schools.
